in AP Euro we watched a movie that
showed examples of propaganda in
Russia being used to gain support for
Putin. Well one example is this music
video glorifying Putin and making him
seem like a cool pop figure.

the punahou jazz band concert tonight
was absolutely fantastic! we danced
the night away!

state-of-the-city address

My AP US Government & Politcs
class got out of a few classes today
to go to the state-of-the-city address
given by Mufi Hanneman.

He opened his speech with a song!
It was quite unexpected. Hah.
He spoke for almost an hour and he
wasn't a bad speaker. He was
pretty confident. The content however
was rather less impressive. The mayor
seemed most proud of his work when
he mentioned how much money the
city government was spending. As if
extravagant use of taxpayer money is
a good thing.

This morning I woke up at 3:30am
after going to bed at midnight. I
just could not sleep! :(

At around 7:30am I looked out my window and saw the most dazzling and
beautiful tree. It was perfectly lit and
golden in the sunlight, and aligned
precisely between the houses for me
to see.

This picture might not capture the
sight's full glorious essence, but I had
to do my best to share this beauty
regardless.

take the eek out of economics.

During the current election process,
it is often claimed that the most
important issue is the economy.
Of course I agree with this,
but I realize that for most people,
when they are talking about the
economy they really mean their own
situations. In other words, their idea
of a good economy is better wages
and whatnot. It is true that a strong
economy would bring that, but it
really isn't everything. It is amazing
how little people know about the
economy and how it works.

do you really want it?

punahou carnival and variety show were both magnificent!
though the carnival was muddy, the food was delicious.
i ate an incredible amount over those two days.

oooh, and i was the first on the zipper! fabulous non? :)



variety show was great fun. i really do like performing!
the last hour of carnival was the best however, after our
last performance: watching ourselves on the screen and
singing, shouting, and dancing along with it!
